Pete Shepherd III to Pilot APC Late Model

(London, ON) February 5, 2020 – Pete Shepherd III will be piloting the #22 APC Auto Parts Centres, Total Lubricants, London City Chrysler Late Model in the 2020 Season. The five time NASCAR Pinty’s Series winner will be taking over the ride after former stand-out Jamie Cox announced his retirement from the APC Series during the off season. Shepherd made three starts in the APC Series during the 2018 campaign racking up an impressive average finish of 3.33. The third generation racer is thrilled with the opportunity, and looking forward to the challenge.

“Being a proud London native and being able represent the APC brand means a lot to me.  We began working on this deal around Christmas time with the team from APC and all of our expectations aligned.  I feel like there was instant chemistry and I am grateful for the opportunity to take over the wheel of the #22 Late Model.  Jamie Cox is a classy individual and a great racer, so I have big shoes to fill and I am very excited about it!”

Shepherd will be driving a McColl Racing Enterprises built car throughout the 2020 season.  It will be a bit of a change for Pete III racing a full series campaign considering he hasn’t had the opportunity to do so since 2004 in the former CASCAR Super Series.  That season he was able to pick up Rookie of the Year Honours and one Pole Award at the age of 16.  Shepherd believes that the repetition of running the full APC United Late Model Series will have major benefits, and will allow him to set attainable goals in the 2020 Season.

“I want to have fun and the best way to do that is to compete at every event and challenge for wins.  Our APC, Total Lubricants, London City Chrysler Late Model will have all the resources behind it to be in contention at every race, so the rest is up to me.  If we are able to practice well, qualify well, and race well we will be rewarded during the weekend and at the end of the season.  In saying that, I’d like to thank my wife Brittany, along with my family and friends for supporting me.  I look forward to seeing all the fans at every event, and I can’t wait to get back on the track!”

Shepherd’s first APC start will be at Sunset Speedway in Innisfil ON. Saturday, May 16th.

Pete Shepherd’s 2020 racing season would not be possible without the following marketing partners;

APC Auto Parts Centres, Canusa Automotive Warehousing, Total Lubricants, and London City Chrysler
